The third highly anticipated Battle Report has been leaked! SC2M brings you the latest action as Dustin Browder and Robert Simpson commentate in the most epic battle yet.

The Zerg are swarming once again as the Protoss assemble their troops. Experienced Starcraft 2 gamer Yeon-Ho Lee steers the Zerg in the right direction as David Kim grabs control of the technically savvy Protoss nation.

Deep space – an empty scrap yard is about to become the birth place of an epic battle as we are privy to new map features, unit functions and terrain details.

The commentary begins as both Browder and Simpson take us through the heated battle. Eventually because he has the economic advantage, David Kim swings a victory for the Protoss with a clever distraction technique, a hidden warp prism and a group of angry Immortals.

In this particular report we are shown the new scrap yard map, the black smoke that cloaks units as they approach it and the Xel ‘Naga watch towers. The really cool thing about these watch towers is the strategic advantage that you gain by having one under your control. They illuminate the ground nearby which can warn you of an approaching attack and help you win the game.

Comedic as many of these battle reports can be, this one has been the most entertaining – we are treated to the tenacity of Kim’s single unit probe that dashed out of his base to harass the Zerg drones and prevent the swarm expansion. I would argue that it was the brilliant use of this probe in the first minute of the game that won it for Kim.

The Zerg were doomed to collect their minerals late, and at a slower rate than Kim’s super fast Protoss. As a result Kim didn’t hesitate to knock out two Colossus units, and sacrifice them for the win. A progressive and inspired tactic, one I will use in future on an unsuspecting buddy. You can just imagine Lee’s smile fade as he thought he had destroyed the Protoss main attack – only to meet his end at the hands of the warped in Immortals.

Main Highlights:

The awesome new destructible rocks that once flattened become a backdoor into an unsuspecting opponent’s base.

The Nullifiers force fields in action – they save Kim’s base on more than one occasion.

The ‘legend probe’ outrunning the Zergling horde.

Burrowing Zerg Roaches and their blinding regeneration powers.

Stalkers blink ability chasing off the horde.

A mass of Zerglings destroying a group of Stalkers.

A Queen shot down in her prime.

The Baneling sneak attack that nearly had the game for Lee.

The Infestor turn around – mind controlling the two Colossus units.

Hopefully we will be seeing a ton more of these before the beta is released, or at least one or two more. Come on Browder, you know you want to.

A Protoss Zealot is a Templar who fights to defend their species and the Khala way of life. Technologically superior, these units are equipped with a suit of armor and cybernetic implants that make them extremely powerful.

Each Protoss Zealot trains constantly and is an expert in martial discipline and hand to hand combat. They have no mercy towards their enemies and destroy them with a personal hatred that has been burned into them since the beginning of their training.

Their psionic ability manifests itself as two blades of pure blue energy that extend from each arm. They are also somewhat telepathic and can predict the movements of their enemies down to the last second, striking at the precise moment and with precision accuracy.

Not only are Zealots designed for close combat, they also possess a light speed that confuses their foes as they strike, perceiving them as out of range when in fact they are upon them. This occurs quicker than the blink of an eye as their entire bodies convert into pure psionic energy.

This scaly dragonfly looking airborne unit is as formidable as it looks. With wide swooping wings this Zerg hybrid is capable of flight in space, which makes it a dangerous creature.

Half roving mantis half swarm, this unit attacks from above and is fast and efficient at what it does. Structures and troops are vulnerable to its attack and as Mutalisks tend to be more effective in flocks, they make a great defense for your base –always on the look out in the skies.

The Mutalisk can attack the enemy on the ground as well, birthing a symbiote called a glave wurm that then proceeds to attack everyone in range before it disintegrates.

It’s hard to believe that the Zerg Hydralisk is one part swarm one part assimilated Slothien herbivore, but there you are. This is one of Zerg’s most successful hybrids. Their frightful appearance is thanks to the caterpillar like body of the Slothien.

These units are vicious, powerful and merciless, using their spines to slice through any enemy put in front of them. Because of their insectoid genes the hydralisk can burrow into the ground and lie in wait for a passing scout or army. Usually they like top wait until the enemy is just close enough, and then surround and destroy them.

Though a Hydralisk is only a medium assault unit it is extremely strong and can easily pierce through armor plating. A small group of them will bring down a structure in an enemy camp.

The Baneling is a sickly greenish yellow color due to the fluid that clots its body. It has to roll to move around, pulling itself into a fluid filled ball and moving at surprising speeds.

The Baneling is the suicide bomber of the Zerg swarms. Its soul purpose is to die and take enemy units and structures down with it. Bred by the Zerg Queens to be able to contain devastating acid inside their bodies, they can travel alone or in a clutch, roll innocently into a group of troops and blow them all to smithereens.

A clutch of ten could seriously destroy an enemy base, or a good part of it. The Banelings are modified Zerglings, the most common Zerg subspecies. Because there are so many, the swarm has a virtually limitless source of suicide bombers.

It begins in a dark place, a cavern or cave of some kind and symbols are marked on its walls. Zeratul, leader of the Dark Templar ventures inside. He is attacked, but it seems as though he expected it and swiftly kills all the Zerg who dare approach him. Ahead, leaning out of the darkness is his mortal enemy, the Queen of Blades.

Jim Raynor speaks to a maintenance guy. He looks at Terran unit types on a screen, talks to Tychus again and watches a series of intimidating Zerg images as well as the dead planets they create.

I was having a look to see if there have been any interesting attempts to create 3D models of the Starcraft species and I stumbled across fans who have spent hours modeling realistic looking characters in Spore, the new evolutionary game that has swept through the world. Would anyone else like to try? Post them here!
