More StarCraft 2 Beta Details Emerge
May 27th, 2009

It seems that Blizzard is doing all they can to make sure StarCraft 2 is as successful as StarCraft 1 has been in the Far East. The first ever Blizzard Fansite Summit in China concluded recently, as SC2c.com (via StarCraftwire) were on hand to get the details.
The most interesting piece of info is that the Map Editor is still being touted as an incredibly powerful piece of software, and it might be released with the beta. If the Map Editor of WarCraft 3 is anything to go by, some ingenious individuals will be able to create some awesome maps. Personally, I hope DotA gets ported over to StarCraft 2.
Blizzard confirmed that the Insane AI will cheat, and gather resources at twice the usual rate. Why anyone would play against a cheating AI is truly beyond me, but it’s there if you want to torture yourself. You can even save the replay of the massacre if you wish.
Unsurprisingly, the beta will only be functional if you are connected to Battle.net. There will be no single player missions at all either, so we will have to wait and see what Blizzard have up their sleeves on that front. It’s the only aspect of StarCraft 2 that we have little to no confirmed details on yet.
By the way, StarCraft 2 might be the reason you need to upgrade your aging PC. Blizzard said a Geforce 9800GT might only be able to handle ‘medium to medium-high graphics’. If you want your game to look as good as the screenshots do, might I advise heading to your favorite hardware dealership and buying something?
